SPRING UPDATE!

There is SO much exciting stuff going on at the farm right now! Each Spring when the melts away and the sun FINALLY comes out and keeps us toasty all day, we go a bit crazy. Ongoing projects and upgrades, and new ideas and programs galore! Here’s a quick run down on what Steckle Heritage Farm has in store for you in 2015:

OPEN TUESDAYS!

Come Visit us every Tuesday, between 3 and 7 PM! Only $15 a family, (or $5 a person) and FREE for our Friends of the Farm! Come visit our animals, do a take home craft, get your hands dirty in the gardens, and get some fresh air running around! NEW THIS YEAR: FOOD TRUCKS AND POT LUCKS! Twice a month, we’ll be hosting the Schmuck Truck and their crew to serve up some amazing mobile meals. On the last Tuesday of every month, we’ll be holding a community Pot Luck Dinner. Bring something to share, and at 5pm, we feast! No need to RSVP with your offering or quantity. If everyone brings cookies, well… that’s our kind of dinner. We do ask that the farm stay PEANUT FREE to keep our kids safe, and that you list any common allergenic ingredients if your share plate is home made. This is rain or shine. On sunny days, we’ll use the picnic tables, and if it’s rainy like last year, it’ll be your chance to hear how beautiful the barn sounds from the inside when rain hits the roof.

SPRING WORK BEE!

We have SO MUCH WORK TO DO! Raking, planting, painting,  and building. We would LOVE to have your help with these projects! On Saturday May 9th from 1 to 4 PM, we’ll be hosting a family friendly Work Bee to cross some projects off our list. We’ll provide the refreshments and tools, and you provide the muscle and man power. With your help, we’ll be able to get the farm ready for the 10,000 people that we’ll see in our season. Yeah… that’s a lot of people. If you can’t make it to our work bee but still want to help, please email us! We have a strong need for ongoing volunteers at the farm, and can help you arrange corporate volunteer days, and family weeding parties! Sounds fun, right?

EVENTS!

Our Easter Egg Hunt was an AMAZING success, and we’re not stopping there. Next up: Our Farmers Picnic on Wednesday June 17th! We’ll be grilling up some (very) local sausages, and serving farm grown salads and sides. Erick Traplin will be here with his bubble machine and superman moves, and there will be games and crafts galore. This is a great fundraiser for us, and a chance to see how delicious local can be! Tickets will be available at the end of May. Our Fall Family Day is planned for Saturday October 3rd, and NEW to the calendar: TRUNK OR TREAT! On October 31st, our large parking lot will become the haunting ground for kids to have a safe and fun trick or treating afternoon! You are in charge of bringing your own treats to hand out, and a contest will be held to judge for the best decorated trunk. RSVPS will be taken, as we have a maximum of 50 cars in total. More details will come in the fall!

As always, we’re proud to offer one of the best BIRTHDAY PARTY programs in the region, amazingly fun SCHOOL TOURS for kids in JK to Gr. 6 in the Spring and Fall, and host beautiful WEDDINGS in our unique heritage barn.

Want to be part of the cool crowd? Join our Friends of the Farm! It’s a membership that gets you early registration to our programs and events, free entry to Open Tuesdays, and a slew of perks throughout the year. Sign up on our website today!

TL;DR: We’re really busy, and you should visit us. :)
