Want to get away from the city without leaving the city?

As a non-profit charitable organization we depend on your donations. Giving us of your time, skills and knowledge is greatly appreciated.  It takes many volunteers to maintain this 15 acre heritage farm, with each season bringing different tasks!

Some Projects where we would welcome assistance of time and resources:

Flower Gardens: We are in the process of rejeuvenating out flower beds that Jean Steckle took great joy in tending.  Some have become overgrown, and some were broken up when our site was connected to city water and sewer.  Have you a love of planning gardens?  Or perhaps you love the quiet time spent weeding and deadheading?  We would welcome your help, and perhaps divisions from your own flower garden.

Carpentry Projects: We have a number of projects (chicken coop on wheels, bunny run, fencing) where people handy with hammers, drills and saws would be enthusiastically welcomed!  Perhaps your family would like to team up with another and tackle a project here?  Or is your class looking for a project?  Give us a call and perhaps we can use your skills!

Historical Items Inventory:  As a historical site, we have a number of items which were catalogued many years ago.  We want to organize them and display them so that site visitors can enjoy them.  Perhaps you have knowledge of farming in "the old days" or perhaps an artistic flair for creating eye catching displays!  Either way, we would love to have you help us.

Event and Open House Volunteers:  Ever wished you could be a tour guide?  Share your love of growing things, agriculture or the history of the city?  In 2011 we have a number of new events we are planning and we also hope to open to the public on some evenings and weekends.  We sure could use your help!

Office and Administrative:  Our small staff often has more jobs at hand than we have hands!!  If you are someone who likes to help organize information, contact people, or do some administrative tasks please let us know!
