Due to many requests…. we are thrilled to offer Home School Programs!

The content of our classes will reflect Ontario Curriculum and Steckle Heritage Farm’s Hands On approach.

Please Note: We have not set dates for our homeschool classes for 2012.  If you have a group of families interested, let us know and we can schedule a program JUST for you!

Down on the Farm : Kindergarten to Grade 1 ages (4 to 7 approx)

2012 :  5 week class (no class Victoria Day) from May 14 to June 18th

9:30 am to 11:15am

Wind, Water and Weather: Experiencing the world around us that affects our earth and us!

Chicks, Poults, Kits and Kids: What have they got in common?  They are all babies!  Spring is a time of growth and beginnings for both plants and animals.  Learn about baby animal needs and compare them to mature animals.  How are they like us?  Different?

Planning for Planting: Do you know how long it takes to grow a pumpkin or a bean?  Lettuce or melon?  This class will discover how to plan, plant, care for and use garden grown products.

(This class will not contain written or read material making it appropriate for students perhaps a bit older with reading/writing challenges.)

Planning for Harvest: Spring to Fall: Learn how to plan and prepare your own garden

Earth Investigators: How can we reduce our impact on our earth and be more environmentally conscious?  Come learn a little bit about a composting, recycling, and much more.

Healthy Foods: Being Label Literate is something tricky for kids who hear a lot of mixed messages. Learn about easy healthy foods you can make and enjoy and how to be smart about snacking.
